Want to be visible and look like the dominant player in your industry? Retargeting is a quick and inexpensive way to stand out.Ever gone on-line shopping, looked at a few products or services, and then for the next month you keep seeing ads for that product or service over and over? Then you've experienced retargeting at work.
Examples of Google Retargeting Ads
Retargeting ads even though they look like any other display ad are fundamentally different. With display advertising your blasting your ad out to anyone that comes to the page or site the ads are served on. With retargeting your ads only show to people that have already been to your site or specific page and have been tagged. That seemingly minor difference makes a huge difference in your marketing budget. Showing ads only to people that have already shown an interest is MUCH cheaper than showing ads to everyone. Just like Google's AdWords text based ads, you are only charged when someone actually clicks the ad.
This is a real win for you as a marketer as it allows you to visually present your brand (and excuse my two lame examples above... these are default choices when creating the ad and not custom ads our designer could have produced for you) over and over again to prospects who have already showed interest. You can literally dominate their on-line browsing for up to 3 months showing your ad over and over again. If they never click, it hasn't cost you a cent! If they do click, your are still talking inexpensive!
I should also mention that if a site visitor actually buys from you or fills out the contact form, you don't tag them. That means they don't see your ads and you don't pay for clicks to someone who is already a customer. It's a really great way to advertise, look like the dominant player in the industry (since they are constantly seeing your ads), for next to nothing.
